Fight Against Kiddie Porn

NEWS RELEASE
OTTAWA, November 23, 2006 – The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, today released this statement in response to the arrest of two individuals in Moncton, New Brunswick for the alleged production, distribution and possession of child pornography:
“The exploitation of our children will not be tolerated by this government,” said Minister Day. “We are committed to helping ensure the safety and security of our communities and our children from predators. That is why we have introduced aggressive legislation for dangerous and high-risk offenders. Those who choose to engage in this heinous and illegal activity will pay the price.”
Investigators with the RCMP “J” Division Internet Child Exploitation Section (ICE) and the Atlantic Region Technological Crime Unit along with the Codiac Regional RCMP General Investigation Section and Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant in a Moncton home, resulting in the arrest of a 39 year old woman and 42 year old man, both from Moncton. ICE Section investigators were acting on information they received from the FBI in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“I would like to take this opportunity to not only thank the RCMP and their Canadian law enforcement partners, but also our partners in the U.S. for their dedication and hard work in keeping our children safe,” added Minister Day.
